Des(ai)gn Hackathon
Details
This project benefits design researchers and academics with an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses, and ultimately best practices of using Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in design. The flow-on benefit is to provide the design industry with meaningful ways of integrating GenAI in design, while mitigating its negative impact. GenAI has opened new possibilities for creative industries, potentially reshaping the way we practise design. This research explores the impact of GenAI on design framing (Dorst, 2015), creating team mental models (Casakin & Badke-Schaub, 2017; Dong et al., 2013) design cybernetics (Fischer & Herr, 2019), design fixation (Jansson & Smith, 1991), and human-AI interaction (Rezwana & Maher, 2022). The study findings aim to uncover the potential benefits, challenges, and implications of integrating GenAI into current design processes and practice.
