Spatial Design and Wellbeing in Remote Work Villages

Details
This study investigates how spatial and environmental design in remote and temporary work villages influences everyday use and employee wellbeing. Remote work villages play a critical role in supporting large-scale infrastructure and resource projects, yet their spatial qualities are often driven by logistical and operational requirements rather than lived experience. While there is growing recognition of the importance of employee wellbeing in remote work contexts, there is limited empirical research examining how indoor and outdoor spatial environments shape daily routines, comfort, and wellbeing in these settings. Using a design-led, mixed-method approach, this project will document spatial qualities of remote and temporary work villages, to identify opportunities for improved spatial design. The outcomes will inform future spatial design considerations for remote and temporary work villages.
